BIOS: I am currently working as Scientist G & Coordinator of the Division of Cytopathology, ICMR-National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research, Noida. My niche areas of research encompass cytology-based screening for cervical, oral and breast cancer, adverse health effects of tobacco and translational research. I have spearheaded/ participated in operational and implementation research projects with focus on developing cost-effective protocols to augment cervical and oral cancer screening in resource poor settings. I contributed in field testing and validation of low-cost modalities for cervical cancer screening viz, Magni-visualizer and care HPV. I also handled flagship programs of the Institute namely, India specific cancer web-portal (cancerindia.org.in) and establishment of WHO FCTC Knowledge Hub on Smokeless Tobacco Products. I was invited as a technical expert in the formulation of the Operational Framework guidelines for population wide screening and management of common cancers in India. I am the nodal person for the Model Rural Health Research Unit (MRHRU) being set up at Khotpura, Panipat, to address the health research needs of the population being catered to by the CHC and the attached medical college in this area. I have been the Course Director of a series of capacity building Hands-on workshop on cervical cancer screening for pathologists. I have published more than 100 research articles in peer reviewed journals and contributed chapters in Technical manuals for health care workers.
My present area of work focusses on cervical and anal cancer screening in women living with HIV.
