Elimination of Cervical Cancer: Initiatives in India
Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous organization of the Department of Science and Technology, Government India, engaged in large-scale science communication and popularization activities in the country is organizing a lecture programme on Science, Technology, Innovation and Policy (STIP) in collaboration with Research and Information System in Developing Countries (RIS).
A STIP Forum, a collaborative effort of RIS, IHC, TERI, CSE, and CEFIPRA along with Vigyan Prasar organise Lecture Series to sensitize Public Discourse on developments related to science, technologies, and innovations policies in India.
The India government recently announced that it will begin a nationwide immunization drive in April 2023 for girls aged between 9 and 14 years, using a newly developed vaccine targeting human papilloma virus (HPV), the main cause of cervical cancer and a potential cause of other cancers.
